- Production during the period of January-December has amounted to 23.25 mln. heads, which is 2.16% more than last year.
- Slaughter in December has amounted to 9.4652 mln. heads, which is 4.8% less than last year and 6.33% less than last month.
- Slaughter during the period of January-December has amounted to 113.1522 mln. heads, which is 2.07% more than last year.
- Average live weight in December 2012 has amounted to 276 pounds, which is 0.72% less than last year and equals to the last month’s figure.
USDA reports on meat in cold storage were issued on January 22:
At the end of December meat in cold storage has amounted to 554.419 mln. pounds, which is 0.76% less than last month and 14.43% more than last year.
Seasonal trends: historic charts show growth since mid December till early February.
Last week’s results:
- Production has amounted to 460.9 mln. pounds, which is 2.25% less than last week and 0.28% less than last year.
- Slaughter has amounted to 2.227 mln. heads, which is 2.50% less than last week and 0.45% more than last year.
- Live weight has amounted to 276 pounds, the same as the week before.
