Yesterday, the Greek government stopped accepting requests for selling Greek bonds at a major discount. The bondholders have accumulated Greek bonds to the amount of €63bn, €17bn is owned by Greek banks. At this point, the requests say that almost half of the bonds will be sold.
Athens will be buying back the bonds at 33% of the current market price. At the same time, most analysts are disappointed with the results of the auction. They say Greece won’t be able to cut its public debt down to 1245 of GDP by 2020. In absolute figures, the current debt of Greece is equal to €320bn.
The Euro Group is planning to make its final decision on the Greek issue tomorrow.
