The nearest EU summit in Brussels is scheduled for the end of this week. One of the key issues on the agenda is the European budget planning till 2020. There seems to be no unity on the issue.
The Euro Commission backs the idea of allocating over €1000bn. At the same time, the UK wants to cut this sum by nearly €200bn. Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, offers to find a compromise by cutting the budget spending by €75bn.
Some experts assume that the UK may derail the summit by using its right to veto during the budget voting. If the voting fails, European countries will have to adopt budgets every year.
