Greece is considered the weakest link of the eurozone chain. Yesterday there was a 24h strike in Athens. The strikers opposed the new austerity measures, which include tax hikes as well as benefit-and-salary cuts.
The country’s public transport was paralyzed. The Greeks say that this is the only way to make themselves heard and to draw the government’s attention to the situation the common people have found themselves in. If the authorities ignore the strikers’ demands, all the Greek labor unions promise to hold 2 nationwide strikes on October 5th and 19th.
FOREX.
According to the Department of Masterforex-V trading system , EURUSD is retracing against the long-term uptrend (of level “Monthly”). There is a new downswing - wave A/B - being formed at the moment. If the price breaks below the defensive MF pivot located at 1.2871, there will be a major trend reversal. Otherwise, if EURUSD resumes its major rally, it will encounter resistance around the top line of the MF sloping channel and the MF pivot 1.4546 (as shown below):
