Microsoft's official website reads that the company's engineers are currently working on a new type of a web browser. The thing is this is going to be a 3D browser. The working name is SurroundWeb 3D. This is the successor of IllumiRoom, which is designed to create realistic effects for games and multimedia thanks to projecting the image to the wall.
As for SurroundWeb 3D, this is going to be a browser. Apparently, it will be used to surf the Web. SurroundWeb 3D is reported to be an extension of Internet Explorer. The browser is also expected to project the content to the surroundings. It will be capable to project up to 25 screens with the resolution of 1440 by 720 pixels.
In order for the content to be viewed the right way, the user will need to tune the browser accordingly by changing the settings in order to adapt the browser to his/her own needs.
In order to implement this idea, the developers are using a projector robot and a Kinect camera. At this point, the system is reported to be at the debugging stage.
Meanwhile, the market doesn't seem to be reassured by the news since the price of Microsoft's stock declined from $38,29 down to $37,3 per share earlier today. It should be noted that the price of the corporation's stock has been unstable so far. If to consider the fact, that the news may well not be priced into the stock yet, we may see a recovery in the coming hours.
