As you probably know, the scandal around Donald Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director Comey is just one of the unpleasant incidents in his presidential career started in early 2017.
The truth of the matter is, after the investigation against Michael Flynn started, Donald Trump asked FBI Director Comey to let the investigation slide. While Director Comey didn’t dare object to President Trump openly, he didn’t do that. On the contrary, the investigation got even more intensive.
Shortly after Comey addressed the Department of Justice for more resources to accelerate the investigation, he was fired by President Trump. Since then, there have been a number of versions explaining this action. Later on, President Trump confessed to Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and Ambassador Kiskyak that he should have fired Comey earlier to avoid escalating the situation around possible Trump-Russia ties. Still, the situation only escalated afterwards. If the Senate Committee recognizes this step as an attempt to prevent the FBI investigation, this will be equal to recognizing Donald Trump a criminal. If that’s really the case, the impeachment procedure will be an inevitable scenario for the U.S. President.
Former FBI Director Comey is not a plain guy. Previously, he used to be Deputy Attorney General, and the FBI has been respecting him since then. Also, he is known as a brilliant lawyer with many years of expertise, which is why he was pretty confident when occupying the post of FBI Director. Apparently, he has been getting ready for the Senate hearings ever since he was fired on May 9, 2017.
At the same time, experts say that at the other side of the boxing ring, there is chaos since nobody seems to be ready to defend and justify Trump’s decision to fire Comey. Trump seems to be failing to implement his election pledges, and the amount of disappointed Americans keeps on growing every day. This is definitely something Donald Trump didn’t expect when moving to the While House. Most likely, he was hoping for another season of successful show he had hosted for a couple of years before winning the 2016 U.S. presidential elections. Instead of becoming a superstar, he seems to be turning into a scapegoat. Now it has become obvious to him that the presidential post also has certain limitations.
Mass media say that while Trump’s family still hasn’t moved to the White House completely, Donald Trump has to spend a lot of time watching TV alone. Most likely, after watching the news, he starts making those emotional tweets and calling friends and colleagues to ask for some advice on who has been bad at doing their job and needs to be fired. Chances are, he doesn’t really understand why the community and the establishment have turned their backs on him for firing FBI Director Comey. Maybe he thinks that all of those who were appointed by him should serve to solve problems for him in the most comfortable, fast, and efficient way possible. At least this is something he is used to as a big businessman, billionaire, and investor.
