According to several Western media sources, Donald Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director James Comey isn’t going to save President Trump form the scandal associated with the Russians and their possible involvement in the results of the latest U.S. presidential election.
Donald Trump is said to be known for being bad at history. For example, not so long ago he made a big mistake when talking about the reasons for the civil war in the USA. It seems like he is also unaware of the Watergate results.
In the meantime, while commenting on Donald trump’s decision to fire James Comey, Senator Bob Casey said that this decision reminds him of the one once made by Richard Nixon. We remind you that in the 1970s, President Nixon fired Attorney General and other related officials investigating into Watergate Scandal. However, this step didn’t interrupt the investigation while the calls for impeachment only got more intensive. The biggest lesson one can learn from Watergate Scandal is that concealing a crime is worse than the crime itself.
For now, we don’t know for sure all the details when it comes to Russia’s possible interference with the U.S. presidential election. However, firing James Comey responsible for investigating in some potential conspiracy between Donald trump and the Kremlin does really resemble concealing a crime.
The Republicans explain Trump’s decision to fire Comey by saying that FBI Director Comey was bad at investigating the case related to Hillary Clinton’s emails. However, experts say that this is just a lame excuse. If the true reason for firing Comey was his actions made 9 months ago, then why did Donald Trump make his decision only recently? Most likely, President Trump decided to fire Comey after the hearings in the U.S. Congress. During the hearings, he said that he felt uncomfortable just by thinking that he could have affected the results of the presidential elections. Chances are, this insulted Donald Trump since he has been really sensitive to anything or anyone questioning the legitimacy of his presidency.
It’s also interesting to note that the decision to fire Comey was made instantly after the scandal flared up once again. Most probably, they hope that such decision is likely to suspend the investigation and give trump’s administration some time to come up with something more efficient.
