Rex Tillerson offered Vladimir Putin to betray Bashar Asad. The US Secretary of State came to Moscow with an ultimatum, experts report. At the same time, we are now witnessing an unprecedented situation. The thing is, this is the first time, a high-ranking politician representing a superpower comes to Moscow without knowing whether he is going to meet with the Russian President.
However, experts say that Vladimir Putin and Rex Tillerson will eventually meet even though this meeting is not on the agenda. At least there is no such event planned for President Putin on April 11. At that point the talks were planned only with Segey Lavrov, the Russian Minister of foreign Affairs.
It’s also interesting to note that a British representatives canceled his visit to Moscow because of the recent events in Syria. Yesterday, Italy hosted the G7 summit, and the Syrian conflict was the key issue on the agenda. Some representatives even offered to toughen the anti-Russian suctions for supporting Asad’s regime. However, the idea wasn’t approved unanimously.
The thing is that Germany offered to delay the decision and wait for the result of the investigation to figure out who should really be blamed for using chemical weapons killing dozens of civilians in Syria.
In the meantime, Tillerson is already in Moscow and is ready to meet with Putin. What is he going to say to Putin? Experts believe that this is either supporting Asad further and getting into a difficult situation or betraying him and joining the Western world in the fight against Asad and terrorism.
Tillerson is definitely going to tell Putin that Asad is not going to stay in power anymore, whatever it takes. Neither Putin, nor anyone else will help the criminal to avoid either death or international tribunal. That’s why he is likely to offer Putin to change his mind and play one of the key roles in punishing the criminal instead of supporting it. It’s not too late but if Russia refuses to cooperate, the USA will recognize Russia an ally of Asad, and Iran. Now it’s up to Vladimir Putin to decide what to do next…
