Due to the recent events in Syria and Donald Trump’s emotional reaction to them, experts say that President Trump may well toughen the sanctions against Russia for supporting Bashar Asad.
Donald Trump doesn’t seem to have lived up to the Kremlin’s expectations. It’s time for Moscow to think whether they bet on the right candidate during the recent presidential elections in late 2016.
In the meantime, Donald Trump starts talking with Russia from the standpoint of force. As you probably know, the other day he attacked an airbase in Syria without any approval of the UN Security Council. This airbase belongs to Asad’s troops allied with Russia. The next step is to toughen the sanctions against Russia for supporting Bashar Asad.
By the way, Donald Trump says he is going to reconsider his attitude to Bashar Asad in particular and the Syrian conflict in general. Well, it seems like he has already done so and is now acting decisively.
Previously, we reported that Washington had made Moscow an offer. The whole point is, either Russia refuses to support Bashar Asad anymore and surrenders him, or the Kremlin is accused of participating in those chemical attacks on civilians. This is a serious accusation leading to serious consequences.
As for Russia, they haven’t made any clear attitude to the situation and accusations, thereby limiting themselves to criticism. According to Russian Prime Minister Medvedev, by such attacks, the USA is on the verge of starting a major conflict with the Russian Federation.
For now, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations reports that President Trump is already thinking about toughening the sanctions against Russia. On April 11, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is visiting Moscow to discuss the situation and work out the solution.
