According to a famous Russian political scientist and observer Andrey Piotrovskiy, the Kremlin’s reaction to Donald Trump’s recent unexpected moves is more like hysteria. To be more specific, after a short pause, Russia has become hostile to the USA once again.
For example, Russian fight jets are now flying over American battleships once again, which hasn’t been seen since November 2016, which was the election period in the USA. Russia also sent spy ships to the U.S. coast and did some other unfriendly things. And all of a sudden, Moscow recognized the passports of the unrecognized republics of Donbass and Lugansk.
This hysteria certainly has to do with Putin’s failed expectations related to Donald Trump, who used to say that he wanted to make friends with Putin and Russia. The USA has made a U-turn and doesn’t seem to be ready to make friends with Russia anymore. Trump wants Putin to give the Crimea, Donbass and Lugansk back to Ukraine.
The expert doesn’t see any well-thought-out plan in the Kremlin’s moves. On the contrary, all of these are signs of irritations and confusion. And he says that Ukraine can catch at the chance and benefit from the situation.
He doesn’t deny the possibility of discussions in Putin’s administration to figure you what to do next – to throw in the towel or to keep on escalating the situation. However, both of these scenarios are bad for Russia.
