As soon as the results of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election were made public, the entire world has been focused on the extraordinary personality of the 45th President of the United States of America. Even during Donald Trump’s inauguration, there were lots of protests in many cities across the United States and even all around the world. The world now seems to be split in half – those who support Donald Trump and those who hate him and want him out of the White House.
Those who participated in the protests were against Trumps’ controversial decisions rather than himself. All of that took place amid the allegations that Russia hacked the elections to make Donald Trump win to become the first U.S. President loyal to Russia over the last couple of decades.
At the same time, mass media start talking about some contacts between Russian secret agencies and Trump’s administration while referring to some governmental sources. Moreover, Trump’s decision to start building a wall on the border with Mexico and ban the citizens of a number of Muslim states from coming to the USA also raised a lot of protests and hate inside the US and in the international community. Basically, Donald Trump seems to be trying to isolate the USA from the rest of the world, to focus on internal challenges rather than being a global superpower.
However, the latest statement made by Trump that Washington is not going to cancel the anti-Russian sanctions until Russia gives the Crimea back to Ukraine and the Donbass conflict is over slightly shocked Moscow. However, some experts, including Andrey Piotrovskiy, think that Trump won’t be able to avoid collapsing even though now he understands that no billionaire can resist an entire country, especially as both parties seem to be discontent with his policies to a certain extent these days.
Putin’s “Trump” Card Is Beaten
Moreover, they say that Trump’s administration is trying to oppose Obama’s administration, but the unpopular policies only keep on undermining President Trump’s status. For some experts this seems ridiculous to some extent. This is like canceling Obamacare – the Republicans were glad to destroy it as inefficient to their mid but they offered nothing in exchange.
As for the unexpected twist in Trump’s attitude to the anti-Russian sanctions and the relation with Russia in general, the expert says that Donald Trump has seriously damaged his own image by constantly taking about his commitment to make friends with Putin, to the extent where any actual step closer to better relations with Russia can lead to the end of his political career. That’s why he will have to follow the anti-Russia path in the future to save his presidency, which is the key reason why he unexpectedly changed his mind and started urging Russia to give the Crimea back to Ukraine and deescalate the conflict in Donbass.
