According to a number of political observers, including those working for The Guardian, the relation between the USA and Russia has been begging many questions ever since Donald Trump moved to the White House.
Just a couple of weeks after Michael Flynn was appointed the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, he was fired. That was the shortest amount of time spent as an advisor in the entire history of the White House. On top of that, usually the man occupying such a high-ranking post works side by side with the U.S. President throughout the entire 4 years of his presidency.
Officially, Flynn was fired for concealing some information from the U.S. Congress. In reality, he left the White House just because of Trump’s attempt to hush up some uncomfortable issues related to Russia. Trump used to show his respect to Putin but the situation seems to be changing now. Moscow hoped that Trump will change the attitude to Russia and cancel the sanctions, which not the case now, as you can see. Now that Trump has to urge Russia to give the Crimea back to Ukraine, and stop escalating the conflict in Donbass, President Trump seems to be turning his back on Putin and is now trying to get rid of anything related to Russia, including Flynn who contacted the Russian ambassador and therefore crossed the line.
There is nothing to be surprised about the fact that Trump’s administration found themselves confronting the secret service, the electorate, and many high-ranking politicians. The US-Russia relations are one of the very few toxic issues discussed in America, especially amid the allegations that Trump is controlled by Russia. That’s probably one of the reasons why President Trump has been trying to prove the opposite.
