Some experts say that the so-called Brexit may eventually result in the disintegration of the United Kingdom. In particular, Scotland has already made a call for another referendum on independence from the United Kingdom.
The call was made by the Scottish government shortly after the UK voted for quitting the European Union for good. The results of the latest surveys indicate that most of the Scots want to quit the United Kingdom the way the UK wants to quit the European Union. The thing is that Scotland wants to be a part of the European Union, which means that under the existing circumstances the only option left for Scotland as a EU member is to quit the United Kingdom itself.
At the same time, the surveys show that many of those Scots who voted for staying a UK member 2 years ago now have changed their minds and want independence. The thing is that for many plain folks, the Brexit is a bad decision, depriving them of opportunities. That’s why, after the referendum, they don’t think that Great Britain is really a great country anymore.
To be more specific, 60% of the Scottish population support Scotland ’s independence from the UK as well as the country’s EU membership.
