On June 06 Armenia presented a unique development at technology market – Armenian smartphone. As informed to the “Market Leader” a large company Technology and Science Dynamics has become the manufacturer of ArmPhone.
Brought into public eye have been five models of Armenian smartphones: ArmPhone 0502, ArmPhone 0505, ArmPhone 0508, ArmPhone 0509, and ArmPhone 0520, each of them having its own unctional features.
The memory of every model can be increased. Smartphones have two plug connectors for insertion of a card. Ringtones include well-known compositions of Armenian composers, such as Komitas, Sayat-Nova, etc.
During the day of the presentation the company has sold about 100 smartphones, which already signals about considerable results. ArmPhone is put up for sale in popular shopping centre of Erevan – Rossia Mall. However, the company’s representatives plan to bring Armenian smartphones to Russian market. Smartphones will also appear at Ukrainian, Kazakh, Belarusian, and Georgian markets. This has been told by Vahan Chakarian, founder and CEO of Technology and Science Dynamics Inc.
ArmPhone is different from other smartphones due to its unique Armenian interface, classical ringtones, and wallpapers in Armenian style. The company guarantees that in case of malfunction within one-year period, the smartphone may be replaced with a new one. Chakarian, though, admitted that accessories to smartphones are to be ordered from abroad, as the company has not yet found native manufacturers. New models of smartphones have successfully passed all tests. What is more, the price of ArmPhone is considerably smaller than that of famous brands, represented at the market. The most expensive model of Armenian smartphone costs 316 dollars.
All models of ArmPhone are represented in three colors – white, iron-grey, and black. One of the models can be bought in five colors – pink, blue, light-green, black, and white.
Deputy Director of manufacturing company Levon Galstian told that specialists can also take individual orders.
Thus, the company will soon start producing telephones for taxi-service, which will have certain functional features.
In the nearest future the company is not planning put up ArmPhone for Internet sale. However, the company’s PR manager Anna Voskanyan admits that new Armenian smartphone has generated interest not only in Armenia, but also in Georgia, Ukraine, and Russia.
Over 150 people have worked on creation of the smartphone. Initially 500 smartphones were produced, of which 100 were sold during the first day of the presentation.
Deputy Minister of Economy Emil Tarasyan is certain that ArmPhone will make a technological breakthrough at the market.
Experts believe that Armenian smartphones have high perspectives at Eurasian market. Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy explained that perspectives of ArmPhone are rising, especially in the face of RF policy on import substitution. Furthermore, the manufacturing company Technology and Science Dynamics is registered in free trade zone.
Armenian IT-companies have lately shown rapid development. Thus, during the last year over 100 companies have registered their activity in the country. Experts have called appearance of Armenian products a “grand project”, which will become the beginning of technological breakthrough at the market.
CEO of X-TECH company Arman Atoyan has stated that Technology and Science Dynamics Inc has always been showing progress; moreover, for years of its activity the manufacturer has not shown any drawbacks. Atoyan supposes that by its functional features ArmPhone is equal to such brands as Lenovo, Alcatel, and HTC.
The Armenians are certain that Armenia can meet competition at IT market. And the beginning is put by production of smartphones.
