The thing is that binary options are derivatives, which means that this kind of financial instruments implies having an underlying asset – a commodity, a stock or a currency pair. At the same time, binary options have a lifetime, which means that they automatically expire over the chosen period of time.
Basically, all you have to do when trading conventional binary options is to determine where the price of the underlying asset is going to get when the option expires. It is going to be below or above the entry price? For instance, if you buy a call option, you basically predict that the price of the underlying asset is going to get above the entry price on expiration. The opposite can be said about put options. It should have the price be below the entry price in order to expire in the money (i.e. to be profitable).
