Not so long ago, Ukraine got the right to export its goods to the USA, while doing it duty free. Most likely, the overall amount of such exports is going to be limited and inconsiderable. The thing is that this program is tailored only to those Ukrainian manufacturers capable of producing premium-quality goods. At this point, Ukrainian may start exporting its household chemical goods to the USA.
In particular, Masterforex-V Academy experts say that Ukraine has got the right to export to the USA some 5000 industrial goods without paying for it, i.e. duty free. Western experts say that Ukraine should catch at the chance to make its products know not only in the USA but in other developed economies as well.
Still, everything is not that simple. In order to get the right, Ukraine will have to comply with several conditions including intellectual property rights and labor laws. Apart from household chemical goods, the program can be a good launchpad for Ukrainian companies producing minerals, trim stone, jewelry as well as some agricultural companies. At this point, the duty-free deal is estimated at $200 000.
Apparently, the volume is tiny as compared to the potential volume that can be generated by means of creating a free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU. At this point, it is clear that the USA as a Ukrainian trade partner generates only a couple of percent of Ukraine’s total external trade volume. With that said, the new program is not going to change the situation drastically, at least at that stage when the volume is really tiny. On top of that, the program is designed so that it can only help big-scale companies. Clearly, this is not going to help the Ukrainian economy revive.
At the same time, local experts say that Ukrainian companies use to be exporting to the USA and other developed economies under similar programs. However, those programs could barely reach 50% of their capacity since few companies had actually succeeded in complying with all the requirements and delivering premium-quality competitive goods.
