Not so long ago, Microsoft was reported to start selling Xbox One in China. This is going to happen in September after China canceled the ban on selling video games and game consoles on its territory. The productions and sales of the next-generation game console will be implemented by the joint venture created by Microsoft and BesTV New Media, Market Leader reports.
According to Market Leader, Sony also expressed its desire to start producing and selling its game console PlayStation 4 (PS4) in China. The Japanese tech giant is really determined to conquer the Chinese market. Shanghai Oriental Pearl Culture Development is believed to be helping Sony ti implement such an ambitious goal. So, it appears that China has become another battleground for Sony and Microsoft.
In particular, Sony and OPCD are reported to have signed an agreement to create 2 joint ventures. One of them will be producing the console in Shanghai while the other one specializes in software development.
Still, despite canceling the ban, the Chinese authorities are determined to keep on censoring the local video gaming industry to filter those games that promote violence and contradict the existing Chinese ideology.
At the same time, CEO of Sony assume that PS4 has all chances to become the world's most popular game console of all times. Since th beginning of 2014, 17 million copies of PlayStation have already been sold. It should be reminded that PS4 was launched in November 2013. The sales of PS4 are above 7 million copies at this point.
Still, Sony's stock seems to be bearish. It lost 0.43% earlier today. The stock is currently trading around $16,11 per share, Masterforex-V Academy reports.
