Microsoft, the world-famous software giant, is reported to be going to introduce Microsoft Office for iPad in the near future, In particular, this will take place on March 27th in San Francisco. The event will be dedicated to the interaction between mobile devices and cloud services.
Most experts and users expect that the new Office of iOS will be introduced right during the event. Still, Microsoft hasn't officially confirmed the info. So far, there are no official comments on the matter.
Meanwhile, Rick Sherwood form Nomura Research told MarketWatch that Microsoft's decision to expand Microsoft Office's capacities beyond desktop PCs and laptops sound like a good idea, thereby giving the corporation a strategic competitive edge. Indeed, there ar many iPad users who also use Office on their Macbooks/iMacs or desktop PC/laptops. So the introduction of the Office version for iPad may expand Microsoft's client base and contribute to higher software sales.
According to Bernstein Research, Apple sold over 195 million iPads in 2013, 150 million of them came with pre-installed software. If at least 10% of the them use Office, this will give the corporation over 15 million new users.
Investors seem to be reassured by Microsoft's smart move. Instantly after the news, the corporation's stock gained +3,94% to hit $39,55 per share. The chart below, courtesy of Masterforex-V Academy, reflects the current state of affairs in the market of MSFT:
