Not so long, several web sources reported interesting news. In particular, they claim that Samsung is going to manufacture next-generation chips for the mobile products of its number-one rival – Apple. Indeed, Samsung is going to keep manufacturing Apple 8 chips, which will power iPhone 6 and other Apple mobile devices.
It is very surprising, if to consider the fact that Apple and Samsung have been involved in a sea of endless court battels over patents over the last few years.
Apple was on the verge of breaking up with Samsung and delegating the production of A8 chips to TSMC. Still, it turns out to be not so easy and simple as one might think.
Another thing ot consider is that Apple used to complaint at the quality of the chips manufactured by Samsung. Some expert explained this fact by tough competition in the industry and Samsung's efforts to undermine Apple's position in the industry.
The other day, a Samsung representative told the media that the rumors about the end of the cooperation between Apple and Samsung in this niche are obviously exaggerated. And the breakup is not the case despite all expectations. The South-Korean giant will start the mass production of A8 chips in Q2 2014. Most of the chips will be made at Samsung's facilities located in Texas.
At the same time, TSMC is reported to have already started manufacturing A8, thereby getting a competitive edge over Samsung in this aspect.
Meanwhile, Samsung's stock is down by 2,12%, Masterforex-V Academy reports.
The Asian trading session was negative, thereby affecting Asian stocks.
At the same time, Apple's stock is up by 0,97% to $536,09 per share:
