Samsung has decided to catch up with one of its major rivals and to create smart glasses. At this point, little is known about the new gadget. Still, the developers are sure this one will definitely make rival to Google Glass.
Meanwhile, the South-Korean tech giant is busy patenting the components of the smart glasses that are going to be introduced in the near future.
In particular, Samsung has already patented the virtual keyboard technology for its glasses. The developers promise this will be a whole new gadget, which will be different form its counterparts in many aspects, from the outer looks to the hardware.
At this point, the approximate release date is unknown. The keyboard has something to do with virtual reality since Samsung seems to dislike voice control. Virtual keyboard is better since voice control can sometimes accidentally lead to the violation of the user's privacy, and it is impossible to handle such devices in noisy places when it is hard to input voice commands.
So, a virtual keyboard is a better solution since the keyboard can only be seen by the user. The keys are projected to the user's fingertips. There are several keyboards available. One of them resembles T9 (once popular with mobile devices before smartphones with QWERTY keyboard appeared).
Meanwhile, experts expect the new portable gadget to be introduced during another major expo called the IFA, which is to take place in Berlin in September 2014. The sales may start later this year.
Despite the interesting news, Samsung's stock is currently down by 1,42% since the opening. The chart below, courtesy of Masterforex-V Academy, reflects the current state of affairs in the market of Samsung’s stock. It seems like the news about Samsung's decision to develop smart glasses hasn't reassured investors at this point. Maybe they will get reassured when Samsung actually introduces the gadget.
