According to some experts, Windows Phone is the industry's most rapidly growing operating system for mobile devices. It is expected to outpace the average market figures within the next 4-5 year, they say.
The experts believe that the global market of mobile devices will reach 1,7bn units in 2018. This year only, it is expected to expand by 19%. Last year's figures indicate a 39% increase. Therefore, they say the mobile industry is slowing down its expansion. Still, Windows Phone is expected to keep growing at a double-digit rate (probably over 20%) to nearly double up its market share from current 3,9% to 7% in 2018.
Apparently, this won't bring any radical changes in the industry and Android together will iOS will remain the leaders. iPhones and iPads are not expected to become cheaper over time. While Windows-powered smartphones will most likely will outpace others in terms the rate at which they will be depreciating.
