The analytic team of HIS iSuppli has recently reported about research conducted by them. The research was aimed at defining the production cost of Sony PlayStaytion 4. The sales of the new and long-awaited game console are underway only in North America. The price is $399 per console.
Market Leader reports that the cost of all the parts of the game console is $381. The 2 most expensive parts of Sony PlayStation 4 are the APU-processor by AMD and 8Gb of graphic memory. Their prices are $100 and $88 respectively.
Market Leader reports that more and more manufacturers sell their products at/near the production cost or sometimes even below it. They are focused on covering the expenses and making profits on paid content, apps and games.
