Several web sources report that iPads sales are yielding to Android-powered tablet sales. Still, Apple used to be the leader in terms the income gained from tablet sales until recently.
According to Morgan Stanley, Android devices accounted 46.2% of the proceeds in the tablet market in Q3 2013. At the same time, the share of iPads declined down to 29,7% during the reporting period. Last year’s figures are around 40,2%.
According to IDC, the international market of tablet PCs counts 47,6 million units as of Q3 2013. The shipping volume increased by 36.7% in 12 months.
At this point, Samsung is Apple’s major rival. Last year, it shipped 9,7 million tablet computers thereby increasing the production by 123%. Apple is currently the runner-up. The 3rd place belongs to ASUS. ASUS and Google developed Nexus 7. The companies have already sold 3,5 million devices since the sales started.
