Polish journalists seem to be obsessed with one and the same question: What is Vladimir Putin afraid most of all? Still, it seems like Putin is the person they are afraid of most of all! The thing is that they like labeling Putin and Russia with various fears, including the NATO, the USA and nuclear threats…
Such labeling is followed by endless discussions. In this article we will try to take a closer look at these speculations…
Polish Experts on Russian Army
Onet.pl, a Polish web source, has recently published an article written by a Polish expert on the CIS. The interview was dedicated to the Russian-Belarusian military exercises that took place in September 2013.
For years, Polish analysts have been avoiding Russia’s defensive capacity, thereby preferring to predict the country’s aggression and ability to assault and wage offensive wars. Strange as it may seem, but those predictions are usually extreme: they either say that Russia is going to conquer Western Europe and is powerful enough to do just that or they say Russia’s military potential is barely enough to hold for 3 days.
Still, this time the military expert express ideas that are more or less close to reality. His words bout Russia’s defensive capacity deserves attention.
In particular, the expert says that the recent military exercises were aimed at checking Russia’s combat readiness and were some kind of a showcase at the same time.
He also says that Russia sees the NATО as the major threat. However, in his opinion, the Kremlin doesn’t treat the NATO as a single unit.
The CIS remains the major battleground from Russia. A potential enemy is a country that is gainst Russia’s domination (Georgia, for example).
Russia doesn’t treat Central Asia and China as potential threats.
The Russian army yields to the American one in numerous aspects even though the Russian army is developing much faster at this point.
Market Leader experts say that there are some objective points in his thoughts:
Europe is closely watching everything that is happening in the Russian army.
Russia’s military policies are considered logical and rational.
European experts acknowledge the problems existing in the Russian army but say its development is fast.
Masterforex-V Academy experts say that there are some controversial things in his thoughts. For example, he says that Russia’s major battleground is the CIS but the NATO is considered the biggest threat.
Ther experts say that Russia is investing in its army not to hit at some possible aggression but just to improve its status in the international arena as a deterrent to the US and NATO expansion.
