Microsoft, the world-famous tech giant, has recently announced major restructuring. The company’s CEO says that the first step is to reduce the amount of departments. The corporation is planning to focus on manufacturing computer components and equipment. The market has evolved a lot so Microsoft has to review its attitude towards everything.
The global market of desktop computers is declining, which is natural since laptops, tablets and smartphones are getting more and more popular worldwide, thereby ousting desktop PCs, which used to be the biggest source of income for Microsoft.
At this point, the company is focused on developing software (including the latest products such as Windows 8, Skype) and the manufacturing of game consoles – the Xbox series. Microsoft also introduced its own tablet PC called Surface. It is powered by Windows RT or Windows 8.
Microsoft is also considering major changes in the board of directors and top management. A few new temporary rules are said to be introduced in the short run.
