Panasonic, a major Japanese manufacturer of electronics, is planning to dismiss some 5000 employees in 3 months. The step is designed to increase the company’s operating margins. The increase is expected to reach at least 5%.
The mass layoffs will concern manly the division involved in manufacturing auto parts, equipment and semiconductors. This division employs some 110 000 workers. This is 30% of Panasonic’s entire staff.
The news made the company’s stock depreciated by 0,4%. The company keeps facing some problems and is forced to dismiss employees.
