The ECB/EU/IMF trinity of lenders decided to suspend its anti-crisis mission in Greece. The trinity’s report will determine whether Greece will receive another tranche estimated at €31 bn. Der Spiegel has recently published the data according to which the real Greek budget deficit is almost 2.5 times as high as the one reported by the Greek authorities – about €20 bn instead if €11.5 bn.
Therefore, it means that the ESM needs to be expanded by €2 bn. It seems like the current austerity steps won’t be enough even though they keep facing strong opposition in Greece.
