On May 6th at 23.01GMT the BRC released its Retail Sales report.
The previous value was equal to 5.2%.
BRC Retail Sales Monitor is the company’s business results expressed in GBP. Every month over 500 shops (they are always the same) around the UK provide the BRC with the data on their proceeds over a certain period of time . 
This indicator makes it possible to anticipate the official Retail Sales value. That is why those who monitor the impact of various economic indicators on the currency market should pay attention to this report. However, only the member companies are considered when calculating the current value of the indicator, which makes it less significant. That is why the indicator is of medium importance.
When the indicator grows in value the British Pound usually shows strength against other currencies.
The report is published in the first part of every month.
