Business and patronage are inseparable? The idea of corporate social responsibility is not new. Sponsors and patrons supported social projects, promising painters, writers, inventors and socially meaningful events as early as in the 19th century. It is significant that both a hundred years ago and now individual businesspeople and companies that organize events within their corporate social responsibility programs prefer not to advertize their contribution to the enlightenment of the masses and development of promising niches in different spheres of a society's life. Names of great painters and epochal events are heard of everywhere but who knows who helped organize the first international expo, raise the first airplane into the air, and organize an exhibition for Itinerant painters in Russia? There are only a few patrons whose name has gone down in history - Rothschild, Nobel, Tretyakov, Pinchuk... Business likes publicity in terms of neither business operations nor charity.
Do forex brokers support social projects? According to the analysts of the traders' magazine Market Leader, broking company TeleTRADE became a leader among forex brokers in terms of organization of social projects in 2011 H1. Currently it has one of the widest branch networks covering over 20 countries worldwide; was awarded Forex Broker No. 1 in March 2011, the top award from the independent international organization, Global Forex Awards. It was handed to the company's management on 9 March this year in Vienna.
What does a Forex Broker Need Social Projects for? This is the question the Editor's Office of Market Leader asked PR Manager of TeleTRADE in Ukraine, Anatoliy Belinskiy.
Market Leader: What did it all start with and what does TeleTRADE need charity for in the post-soviet space?
A. Belinskiy (TeleTRADE): Our social projects started with publication of such newspapers as Other People's Money in Russia, Money+ in Ukraine, Money-Plus in Kazakhstan. Reasons: we wanted to offer free aid to a wide number of people in these countries in mastering basic skills in understanding foreign currency rates, explaining what an investment means, what currency prices depend on and how this can be monitored in the forex market. Tens of thousands of beginner traders and common people that have nothing to do with the forex gratefully remember 'Lessons for a Trader', initial recommendations and explanations (like what currencies their savings should be kept it) published in these issues, but are many of them aware that it is our company that played a decisive role in their lives? That's why you're right, sponsors' names are printed in gold in history rather as an exception, most of their deeds are left absolutely unnoticed and each sponsor should take it in their stead and for granted.
This year in Ukraine TeleTRADE holds an event of 'The Time to Do Good' at orphanages. The company not only uses its own money to buy toys and books for Ukrainian orphanages, but also to equip computer classrooms so that the country's young parentless citizens went out to this world prepared and skilled in the most promising area.
This charitable event also involves tens of thousands of Ukrainian traders as a certain amount from each of their trades is transferred to the charitable fund. Only a few traders know this, but in this way TeleTRADE helps them make their contribution to development of the community and country, and streams eventually add up into a powerful torrent of support.
Market Leader: Are you preparing a basis for new traders in 5-10 years from now for yourself? But TeleTRADE's sponsorship support is not limited to children, as far as we know.
A. Belinskiy (TeleTRADE): Any serious company should plan and lay the foundation for the future. Of course, most children from today's orphanages will not become investors or traders in the future. But if they our computer classrooms help them gain internet skills, no matter what they become, we will believe that we did our best to create these professional skills that they will surely need in life.
No, of course' TeleTRADE's charity is not limited to work with orphanages. For example, a week ago Kherson hosted the 1st round of Rally Championship of Ukraine Tchoomak's Way. Thousands of car sports fans welcomed winners of one of the country's most complex routes, including... the TeleTRADE's team or, to be more accurate, the professional team with our company as its general sponsor. We are confident that the TeleTRADE team will also come out a leader during the next round to be hosted by Yalta!
There are no 'unimportant' or 'insignificant' events for social support of the society. Can we compare participation in the Ukrainian national rally with lessons of financial literacy delivered by Zaporozhe representative office of TeleTRADE to senior high school students of a common high school, No. 44? From the viewpoint of this minute PR effect, these events are from different leagues. But who can evaluate knowledge of fundamental analysis and forecasting in financial markets that students acquire during such lessons? What if they will raise a genius that will excel Elliott, Elder or DeMark? Even if they don't become traders, investors or analysts, we are positive this work with senior students of a common high school will serve them as a powerful springboard in understanding economy and processes under way in our tangled and very complicated world.
Market Leader: Brokers possess unique information. Do you share it with simple consumers?
A. Belinskiy (TeleTRADE): Of course. Apart from information in our newspapers, the staff of TeleTRADE offices holds news conferences. For example, in Odessa Bogdan Terzi, the company's leading analyst, explained in detail what Hryvna exchange rate should be expected by end of this year and to what degree food could appreciate. During a news conference in Dnepropetrovsk the company's leading analyst Vladimir Nadein revealed tendencies of pricing of precious metals.
Market Leader: In this world of information technologies help might come either as part of a PR campaign or from deep within your heart. Thank you for the interview, Anatoliy. We wish success to you and your company in its initiatives.
