Last week the ECB raised the Official Bank Rate up to 1,25%.
Besides, Portugal asked the European Council for financial help, which in its turn asked the Portuguese government to conduct structural reforms of the national economy. The US Fed Reserve is also expected to toughen its money and credit policy.
In general the week was quite calm. S&P 500 declined by 0,3%.

In terms of economic sectors, the movement was multidirectional. The biggest growth was shown by “Consumer Goods” mostly at the expense of silver, gold and oil. “Industrial Goods” and “Conglomerates” showed the weakest growth over the last week.

The record growth was shown by the shares of National Semiconductor (NSM), which gained in value 68% on the news about the purchase of Texas Instruments.
Next week there will be the unofficial opening of the season of quarterly reports.
