You're watching the Economic Calendar for Wednesday, the 8th of February. Let's see which news releases could be of interest to currency traders.
The schedule starts at 1:15 PM GMT, when Canadian Housing Starts for January are released. Sales rebounded in December, following two months of decline.
Reserve Bank of New Zealand will release its closely watched Monetary Policy Statement at 8, and, if you're a Kiwi Dollar trader, you may want to tune in for the press conference an hour later. Markets are not expecting any interest rate hikes, so press conference has a better chance of moving the markets.
New Zealand Building Permits for December are out at 9:45. The number of permits saw a strong drop in November, reversing a 2% gain the previous month.
Japanese Machinery Orders for December will be available at 11:50. Orders slipped in November on the back of a strong drop in non-manufacturing orders.
Australian New Home Sales for December are scheduled at midnight. Sales returned to growth in November as both house and apartment sales went up.
UK RICS House Price Balance for January follows one minute later. The Index eased in December from the 8-month high reached a month ago.
Another high importance event for Kiwi Dollar traders comes at 10 minutes past midnight, when Reserve Bank of New Zealand Governor Graeme Wheeler will be testify on the Monetary Policy Statement before the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee.
And Japanese Preliminary Machine Tool Orders for January conclude the schedule at 6. The December data marked the first annual growth in 16 months.
