Exxon Mobil, ConocoPhillips, TransCanada and ВР are ready to invest in a new natural gas project in Alaska.
The companies a planning to build a pipeline from North Slope to the nearest port, where they are going to build an LNG-production plant and other facilities necessary to start LNG export. The pipeline is expected to measure 1300 km. its capacity is estimated at 3500 cubic feet.
The local authorities have backed the initiative. The new plant is expected to produce 15-18 million tons of LNG a year.
The local LNG terminal will become the world’s biggest one.
For reference sake, there was a deficit of LNG in January due to production decline and higher demand in Latin America. Analysts expect that the export of LNG to Latin America will decline in the near future.
