As you know, Barack Obama has been reelected. It seems like he wants to be a good guy for everyone. Probably, that is one of the major reasons why most Americans voted for him during the elections, thereby allowing him to stay in the White House for another 4-year term.
The global reaction is different. Western Europe is content with the election results. Russia is breathing freely again (Obama doesn’t consider Russia to be the USA’s major enemy, unlike Romney).
At the same time, in the eastern part of Europe seems to be disappointed with the reelection. Experts start seeing the “reload” program between Russia and the USA as a compromise – Russia consolidates its position in Eastern Europe while the USA exchanges its multiple allies in Europe for Russia’s loyalty concerning the Iranian issue.
The say the USA has betrayed Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
However, their reasoning looks ridiculous. Russia is not as strong as the ex-USSR. Therefore, it would be foolish to betray dozens of allies in exchange for a resolution on Iran and a promise not to support Hamas.
Another counter argument is they name too many allies. For example, Armenia doesn’t conceal its friendly relations with Russia.
Moreover, other experts say that the “reload” program has failed. Yet there were several issues that cooled down the bilateral relations (Libya, Syria, parliamentary election in Russia etc).
Yet, the major counterargument is that Washington hasn’t got Russia’s loyalty concerning Iran and the Middle East in general. Yet, the USA is still planning to deploy the anti-missile system in Romania.
Are There Reasons To Take Offence At Obama?
Yes, there are. But the belong to some political forces, not entire nations. There are those pro-Western (or pro-American) politicians who feel betrayed. Indeed, after George W. Bush left office, a lot of European politician followed him, losing lections (Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Georgia etc). In essence, there are no “orange” regimes left in Eastern Europe. So, it looks natural that they blame Barack Obama. Is he really to be blamed? May be they should blame themselves?
