For those of you who don't know, Australian Craig Wright claims that he is the very founder of Bitcoin under the name of Satoshi Nakamoto. This is the statement he made during his interview to The ВВС, GQ, and The Economist.
Up until recently, nobody knew the real name of the Bitcoin founder, only pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. During the interview with The BBC, Mr. Wright used a digital signature based on crypto-keys. He created them when Bitcoin was at the first stage of its development. He explained his decision to reveal his identity as the founder of Bitcoin because he was tired of endless speculations in mass media worldwide. He also promised to share the evidences with the world.
Is It True?
A team of experts decided to investigate into the matter and find out the truth. For starters, they found out that back in December 2015, Wired and Gizmodo released some reports naming Mr. Wright as one of the likely founders of the crypto currency. Back then, Mr. Wright avoid any comment on the matter. A few hours later, his home in Sydney was raided by the federal police of Australia. It is interesting to note that the raid wasn’t related to Bitcoin and was said to be connected with some tax investigations.
As for the true reason why he revealed his identity to the public, he said “I care so passionately about my work, and also to dispel any negative myths and fears about bitcoin… I cannot allow the misinformation that has been spread to impact the future of bitcoin and the blockchain…”
Bitcoin, is the world’s first and most popular crypto-currency. Basically, a crypto-currency makes it possible for the consumer to perform electronic transactions without any intermediaries like commercial banks. No central bank of the world has the power to emit or supervise it. This is a truly global currency of the Internet world. Bitcoin is created through mining. The amount is still limited.
They say that the total amount of Bitcoins in worldwide circulation is equal to 15.5 million Bitcoins. They also claim that the founder (or founders) has (have) roughly 1 million Bitcoins, which is currently equal to $450 million given that 1 Bitcoin is now over $450.
