Over the last 6 months, Google has tripled its income from ads rotated in YouTube mobile apps. In particular, Google earned $350 million on mobile advertizing during the reporting period. It is reported that over 25% of the YouTube audience visited the website vie their mobile devices.
Lukas Walton, Vice-President of YouTube, reports that the advertizing volume keeps increasing proportionally when the audience and the mobile traffic are growing as well.
For reference sake, standard YouTube apps for iOS and Android show the user some ads before playing videos. Even though it is very difficult to keep the user’s attention focused on the ad, stats show that YouTube has succeeded so far. At this point, YouTube generates some 10% of Google’s entire income.
